"You Know What Makes Me Crazy, Can I Say This, You Know What Makes Me Nuts?"
From missandrony, if you agree post this in your own journal and spread it around.

I would have an abortion. The circumstances under which I would, might, have, or might have chosen to have an abortion are nobody's business but mine and those I choose to tell. They are not the business of any government. I do not accept the proposition that either the state or my sexual partner(s) should have any say over when and if I choose to bear a child. I do not accept any sovereignty over my body and my reproductive organs but my own. If faced with the situation, I will do everything feasible to help other women and girls I know exercise their rights to safely terminate a pregnancy if they so choose. When a state treats women and girls as chattel, it is they that commit a crime.

----

also i've been in the room. talked with women choosing to end pregnancys. i want to ask these policy-makers who they think has abortions. it's not always just irresponsible teens someone should have kept a better eye on, it's women making hard choices about the reality of their lives. shit happens. it just makes me nuts. at the end of the day there are circumstances, everyone has a breaking point.

and in keeping with a theme. last night i went to work out with ali and had the best workout ever. mainly because i brought my soicology of the family reading with me and it was amazing. i want everyone i know to read this article. Body Boundaries, Fiction of the Female Self: An Ethnographic Perspective on Power, Feminism, and the Reproductive Technologies. It's about a surrogate woman and this couple who's baby she is carrying, and she uses Haraway in a way that doesn't make me run away screaming. And so I was just walking along yesterday on the treadmill at a brisk pace completly absorbed in this and "Songs for a New World." i want to have a serious class discussion about it badly. i wish i had read it last year in "science and the body."
